May is National Share a Story Month and, as stories are central to the Wild & Fine philosophy, we decided we could not let the month go by without marking it in some way. One of the reasons that everyone on the team loves “real” jewellery is that the durable nature of precious metals and gemstones mean that we all have key pieces that have been on adventures and are invested with important memories.

To celebrate National Share a Story Month, each member of the team has written the story behind their most precious jewels, exploring the memories they evoke and the people that we recall when we wear them.

Some of mankind’s most prized resources, gemstones give us more than just a sparkle on a favourite pendant, ring or pair of earrings. Simultaneously evoking the most indulgent luxuries of human life and the essential rocky framework of Planet Earth, gemstones have a rich history and have been endowed with a wealth of symbolic meanings in a multitude of different cultures.

But how do we ensure that our gemstones are ethically sourced so that we can sparkle with a clear conscience?

With many of us facing one the most challenging three-month periods of our lives, the Wild & Fine team is resorting to new year’s resolutions to help us all through. But we won’t be training for ultra marathons or vowing to do five sessions of HIIT and achieving washboard abs by July. Nope. This time we are playing smart and looking to make small changes that we won’t struggle to keep, but will make us feel better about life each time we do them.

It is more important than ever to shop small this year. We know it’s a pain navigating all those different websites and having to fill in your details over and over again, but it really will mean the world to the people who receive those orders.

By shopping with a small business you aren’t just getting a present for a friend or relation, you are gifting your support to that business too.

The coronavirus pandemic has put a lot of events and activities on hold, but one of the worst affected sectors has been the wedding industry. Couples who have devoted time and energy to planning the perfect day with their friends and family have either had to curtail their dreams and ambitions or put proceedings on ice indefinitely.

We’ve had a think at Wild & Fine Towers and decided that the only way to plan a pandemic-proof wedding is opt for an outdoor ceremony with a small selection of your most favourite people…

Our release from lockdown house arrest is not accompanied by the joy that I had hoped it would elicit and I am left wondering how to go about enjoying the rest of Summer 2020 safely and responsibly.

Wild & Fine is celebrating World Oceans Day 2020 by launching a whale shark pendant and donating 15% of each pre-order to World Oceans Day. We are also taking the opportunity to learn more about the majestically beautiful whale shark, the world’s largest extant fish species.

Monday 18th May is International Museums Day 2020. It is extremely sad that, due to coronavirus and the measures in place to slow infection rates, many of the world’s finest museums are currently closed and cannot celebrate the day as they would have wished.

If, like us, you love your own four walls but cannot help but let your mind wander to exotic locations and the possibility of future adventures, the indefinite nature of the coronavirus lockdown is very frustrating. With no clear idea of when the restrictions will be lifted it is risky booking travel arrangements that may have to be cancelled if your home or destination country is still limiting international travel.

However, with so many of us having so much extra time on our hands, it seems a shame to waste the opportunity of thoroughly researching the next big adventure. There is nothing funny about coronavirus. It has claimed thousands of lives, it has drastically altered the daily habits of millions of people and it is playing havoc with economies across the globe. We are celebrating International Women’s Day 2020 by quizzing five of our favourite inspirational women with some questions about their experiences of being women in the 21st Century. As 2019 draws to a close, we are keen to look back on our first year in business, not only as a bit of a pat on the back to celebrate what we have achieved, but also as a starting point for plotting what 2020 is going to have in store.
